At 26 years old, I have had the privilege of experiencing both working and studying environments, both of which have greatly shaped my professional and academic journey. Prior to pursuing my studies at North West University, I gained invaluable experience as an English teacher in Thailand. This role taught me the importance of adaptability and resilience in social and professional settings different from those I had known up to that point. My current enrolment in a master’s program is centred around the examination of pressing environmental and food security issues that our world, particularly South Africa, is currently facing.
