**Research Interests**
My research focuses on colonial and postcolonial cultural production in the aftermath of the Second World War, with a particular focus on the intersecting discourses of decolonization, race and gender in postwar Britain and its empire. My fully funded PhD Thesis *Miscegenation and the Postwar Nation: Interracial Love, Desire and White British Identity in Fictions of Britain and Empire, 1947-1965* (September 2020 – February 2024) employs theory from the fields of whiteness studies, postcolonialism and gender studies to examine white British identity through representations of interracial relationships in the postwar novel. In his report, my external examiner (Professor James Procter, Newcastle University) described my work as being in the ‘top 5-10%’ of PhD theses he’d examined in the last 20 years.
